The feedback you'd give every student, if only there were time

Every teacher knows they should give detailed feedback and set more practice papers. And every teacher knows why they don't — there just isn't time.

Upload a full class set in a couple of minutes and walk away. When you come back, Markable has produced detailed observations, mapped each script against the mark scheme, and drafted improvement priorities for you to review, mark and finalise.

Set more practice papers. Mark them properly. Help your students improve. Get your evenings back.

Your judgement. Markable's stamina.

We all know we need to give students more practice papers to help them improve. We don't, because we just don't have time to do the marking.

Built for teachers, across a growing list of subjects

Markable started with Pearson BTEC Applied Law to solve one clear problem for teachers: high-quality feedback without evening and weekend marking overload. It now supports Pearson BTEC Applied Law, WJEC/Eduqas Level 3 Criminology, AQA A Level Politics, Pearson BTEC Sport and OCR Cambridge Technicals Digital Media, with more qualifications in development — all held to the same standards for transparency and teacher control.

Every live subject is built around its awarding body's assessment framework and grounded in official mark schemes and examiners' reports before it goes live.

Common questions

Things teachers usually want to know before signing up.

How accurate is the AI marking?

Every live subject in Markable is grounded in the official mark schemes and examiners' reports for that qualification. The AI uses that subject-specific material to produce a first-pass analysis for teacher review.

That said, the AI is an assistant, not a replacement. You enter your own marks. Your judgement is final. Markable's job is to give you a thorough first-pass analysis so you can focus on the moments that need your expertise.

Will my students' work be used to train AI?

No. Your students' scripts are sent to the AI for analysis but are not used to train any model. Anthropic, our AI provider, explicitly does not train on customer API data. Once analysis is complete, scripts stay in your private workspace — only you can see them.

Is Markable GDPR compliant? What does my school need to approve?

Yes. Markable is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO registration C1917001) and operates under a Data Processing Agreement published on our website. We use only student initials or reference codes — never full names — so the personal data you share is minimised by design.

Most schools' Data Protection Officers are satisfied by our DPA and ICO registration. We're happy to send a copy of either directly if your school's DPO asks.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Copilot?

ChatGPT and Copilot are general-purpose AI tools — they aren't built around your subject's marking workflow. Markable is.

Built into Markable, for every subject it supports:

  • Official mark schemes and examiners' reports for each live qualification
  • Qualification-specific guidance for supported tasks and units
  • A structured marking workflow with criterion-level analysis
  • Automatic generation of student feedback reports, UCAS references and progress reports

You get structured, reviewable marking output — not a chat reply you'd then have to reformat.

What does it actually do that I can't do myself?

You can mark scripts yourself — every teacher can. But marking a Unit 3 script properly takes 30–45 minutes, and a teacher with 20 students sees their weekends disappear.

Markable does the first-pass marking in just a few minutes per script. You get paragraph-by-paragraph annotations, AF-level feedback, suggested band ranges, and a complete draft to review. You enter your own marks, finalise, and the student feedback report writes itself.

The result: faster turnaround, more consistent marking across a class, less weekend work, and your professional judgement at the centre of every decision.

How much does it cost?

Three plans:

  • Essential — £9 per month, 15 scripts per month
  • Plus — £18 per month, 40 scripts per month
  • Pro — £32 per month, 100 scripts per month

Every plan includes every feature. The only difference is how many scripts you can process per month. Student feedback reports, UCAS references and progress reports are unlimited on every plan.

What's in the free trial? Will I be charged during it?

Your free trial gives you 7 days or 3 scripts, whichever comes first. Every feature is available during the trial.

A payment method is required to start the trial. You won't be charged until your trial ends. Cancel any time before then and you'll pay nothing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, anytime. There's no minimum commitment and no cancellation fee. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of your current billing cycle and aren't charged again.

What subjects does Markable support?
