Markable for Schools

Give your teachers their time back. Give your students more chances to improve.

Markable drafts the marking for past papers, BTEC coursework assignments and Criminology controlled assessments, so whole departments mark faster and more consistently — with teachers who always have the final say. More assessment, earlier intervention, standardised feedback, and leadership oversight at a glance.

What Markable does for your school

Give teachers their time back

Marking is the biggest driver of teacher workload. Markable analyses a full class set in the time it takes to have a coffee — a single paper in 3 to 6 minutes, a whole class set in 6 to 15, freeing staff for planning, intervention and their own lives — directly supporting wellbeing and retention.

Test more, catch strugglers sooner

When marking is no longer the limit, departments can assess far more often. More frequent assessment surfaces students who are falling behind weeks earlier — while there is still time to act.

Raise grades across the board

More practice, earlier intervention and consistent feedback are the three things that move results — and Markable makes all three affordable at scale.

Standardised, consistent marking

Every teacher follows the same mark-scheme-grounded workflow, making standardisation and moderation faster and more defensible.

Leadership oversight at a glance

A department and whole-school view of assessment activity and performance — who has been assessed, how cohorts are tracking, and where the gaps are — without chasing spreadsheets.

Reports & UCAS references, generated

The same workflow that marks the work also produces student feedback reports, progress reports and UCAS subject reference drafts — saving hours at report and application season.

How it works for a department

  1. 1. Upload. A teacher uploads a single script or a whole class set — exam past-paper questions or coursework.
  2. 2. AI first pass. Markable analyses each script against the mark scheme in minutes, with paragraph annotations showing what’s needed to reach the next level.
  3. 3. The teacher decides. They edit, add or remove any feedback, enter the marks, and tick to confirm they have reviewed it before anything is finalised.
  4. 4. Reports out. Student feedback reports, progress reports and UCAS references are generated from the same workflow.

Teachers stay in charge — always

Markable never awards a grade on its own. The teacher reviews every piece of AI feedback, edits it freely, enters the marks, and ticks to confirm they have reviewed it before anything is finalised. A qualified human is always accountable for the result, with a clear audit trail.

“Use of AI as the sole mechanism for determining a student's mark does not comply with Ofqual's regulations.” — Ofqual, Principles of AI use in marking. Markable is designed for exactly this: a human always makes the decision.

Built around UK GDPR, ICO registered (C1917001), with a published Data Processing Agreement. Your school decides. Pupils can be identified by initials or a reference code, or by name if you record one — a class roll upload takes names and school email addresses together. If your school gives pupils access to their own feedback, you also record their school email address — that address is how a pupil proves which work is theirs. Student work is never used to train AI models.
